I didn't enjoy Cars 2. I have a bad feeling about the motive behind the release. I feel sad that Pixar has released its first movie I didn't heartily enjoy. But I look up to Pixar. Always did. As an artist and a programmer, the CG industry is where those aspiring to redefine the 21st Renaissance man should be, and Pixar has always embodied that for me.
I'm not working at the heart of the industry, but I'm close enough to confirm, that the brains of the industry isn't made up of a bunch of nerds and geeks. I see cool A+ individuals who may not be perfect, but their passions make up for their shortcomings. In the end, it's all about the will to be better.
Look at the industry now and how it began, you can not deny the hard-work that the pioneers had to employ just to bring us to where we are today.
Juxtapose the video I have here posted with any feature animation, even one you don't enjoy, and then when it's over, tip your hat to the pioneer Ed Catmull.
